Timing
The Access Services staff will put material on reserve at The Desk for your students to use. Material is processed for reserve by the regular staff Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. In order to have reserve material ready for students at the earliest possible date, we suggest that you bring the material and the completed reserve form to us as far in advance as possible before the first day on which students will be requesting the material. We will process these requests on a first-come, first-served basis, usually within 1 or 2 business days. If you have an emergency reserve request (i.e., the text for the class didn't arrive at the book store), let us know and we will do our best to help with the problem. Check with the Circulation Services staff to confirm that reserve material has been processed before you tell students that the material is ready for use.
Procedure
Please photocopy the Reserve Form for listing material to be placed on reserve. Additional forms are available at The Desk.
1. Library books and other non-photocopied material
Bring material for reserve to The Desk together with a completed Reserve Form. This will facilitate processing your request and you will know if a book you would like to use is unavailable or must be recalled from a patron. Copyright law prohibits putting copies of workbooks, test booklets, or other consumable works on reserve.
2. Photocopied material
You must provide complete source citations for each photocopied item you wish to place on reserve; the information needed for sources is listed on the Reserve Form. Consult the Copyright Guidelines information sheet to make certain that we are permitted to place ALL of your photocopied material on reserve.
