Originally installed in a temporary wooden oil derrick and located between the Steinheim and Susan Howell Hall, Davis Memorial Carillon includes thirty-five bells believed to have been cast from Old World 1674 bell molds. In 1953, a new steel tower was built to house the carillon. In 1975, major renovation was implemented to restore the bells and equipment to acceptable standards. In recent years additional bells were added to bring the total to forty seven. In the 1980’s, the entire structure was redone; bronze glass cladding, office and bells repositioned, decorative neon lighting added, and a display area added.
