Merrill Field Press Box

1962

Erected atop the west side bleachers in c. 1962, the original Merrill Field Press Box was dedicated to Cyrus Lavern Elliot. When Merrill Field’s wooden bleachers were replaced by a new grandstand in 1983, a new two-story press box was constructed with working press on the first floor. The top floor includes a President’s Suite and additional space for coaching staff. The press box was dedicated in 1993 to long-time AU Sports Information Director Johnny Nelson.
