Crandall Hall

1858

Originally built as a private residence located at 8 South Main Street, in 1928, Crandall Hall became university property. It became the home of President Paul E. Titsworth in 1933, continuing as the University president’s house until 1970 when the University built the president’s residence at 71 Pine Hill Drive. The house was then used for Admissions and Financial Aid, with Financial Aid moving to Bartlett in 1977. In 1978, the University applied for National Historic Register status. In 1986, the Admissions and Financial Aid offices were reunited in Alumni Hall. The original garage, which had been converted to offices, was removed and a new studio for the Communications Program was added. Crandall Hall was renovated and housed the Office of Communications. At present, it houses the Office for Special Academic Services.
